Apple iPad mini 3

On 16th October 2014 Apple announced iPad mini 3 along with iPad Air 2 and new iMac 5k.

Design

The new iPad mini 3 has the exactly same design as its predecessor iPad mini 2. The body is an aluminum unibody, comes with three color silver, gold and space gray.  Apple have almost nothing to improve the iPad mini.

Display

It has a 7.9 inch IPS Retina display with 2048x1536 resolution (326ppi) exactly like the older iPad mini. Unlike the new iPad Air 2, new iPad mini display was not laminated. Apple made thinner display for iPad air 2 by combining three components LCD, touch sensor and cover glass into a single layer which reduces internal reflex and give a more enhanced touch screen experience. The iPad didn’t even the the anti reflexive coating over the display that iPad Air 2 has.   

Chip

Even Apple didn’t look into to bump up the performance of the new iPad mini. It has the same old generation A7 with motion co processor M7.

Camera

The iPad mini has the same 5MP iSight f/2.4 aperture camera at the back and a frond facing 1.2MP FaceTime HD camera as its predecessor. The rear came can shoot 1080p HD video with image stabilization and also have features like face detection, tap to focus and time lapse video. The front facing camera is capable odd captureing 720p HD video with features like face detection, panomora and timer mode.

Touch ID

Touch ID is the only feature that makes this iPad call the new iPad mini. Finger print sensor is built into home button and the touch ID is protected by cover the home button with a sapphire glass circle as iPhone. Touch ID can be used for unlocking the device and for online purchase only, as it doesn’t have NFC chip it can’t perform other purchases like the new iPhone 6 and iPhone6 Plus.

I really can't see the value in this device, it cant be referred to upgrade until it reflex in at least in design or performance. I'm very disappointed with the new Apple iPad mini 3.
